Kelli Hays, Executive Director

It is a deep honor to step into the role of Executive Director of Sodzo International at this meaningful moment in our organization’s life. One of Sodzo’s guiding principles is faithfulness, and I am deeply grateful for the faithful leadership Michael has provided and for the strong foundation he and the Board have laid through ten years of prayer, partnership, and service. As we move forward together, I do so with gratitude and confidence in the mission God has entrusted to this organization.

My first trip to Kenya

I took my first mission trip to Kenya in 2017 with the intention of visiting once and, if it were up to me, not returning. God had different plans! From the moment I arrived in the village we were ministering in, I felt a deep burden for the community.

The Lord opened my eyes to several public health challenges in the area, which eventually led me to pursue a master’s degree in public health. I graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2023. A few months before graduation, I met Michael through a joint research project and shared my interest in working with Sodzo. The Board hired me as Program Coordinator in January 2024.

The last two years have been such a kindness from the Lord. The more I have learned about Sodzo, the more amazed I have been by how many lives are impacted through such thoughtful and efficient investment.

A family commitment

My family is deeply invested in Kenya as well. My husband, Ben, was the catalyst for my first trip to Kenya and has been a great support and encouragement in my work with Sodzo. Each of our six children has visited Kenya at least once, and our daughter Allie, in particular, carries a strong passion for the people.

Looking forward

My vision for Sodzo International is to expand our Flourishing Communities Model into additional regions across Kenya, with a longer-term hope of extending this work into other countries as well.

The work you have supported has grown into a thoughtful, proven model for restoration. That foundation matters deeply as we look ahead. I am thankful for our team, Board, and partners, and I look forward to walking together into this next season with humility and hope.
